Shred Station wins the Waste World Cup 2021!
The Waste World Cup is the UK waste industry’s premier sporting event, combining a day of friendly football with a quality opportunity to network. This year, the event took place at Beaconsfield Rugby Club in Buckinghamshire on Friday 2nd July.
For this year’s competition, over 25 teams took part from different waste specialists, all paying an entry fee to support Waste Aid UK and compete for the top place.
Having won the competition in 2019, and with 2020’s cup cancelled due to coronavirus, we were keen to hold onto the winning title.
With two Shred Station teams in the competition in separate groups, we faced some fierce competition. But, after battling some truly skilled teams, we managed to come first in both groups. Both Shred Station teams then fought through to the final, meaning two Shred Station teams were up against each other to win the tournament!
At Shred Station, we pride ourselves on our teamwork, so going against our colleagues in the final was both unexpected and a real challenge! Shred Station Team 1 just pipped Shred Station Team 2 to the post, winning 1 goal to nil.
We couldn’t be happier to have been crowned the winners once again, and are proud to have had both our teams battling against each other in the final.
A special thanks to LetsRecycle for organising the event, and to all the other companies who entered. It was a fun day for all, and, most importantly, raised money for a great cause.
