Shred Station staff to take on escape room challenge!
This year, our team of staff is taking part in activities and fundraisers to raise enough money to plant 10,000 trees.
Some of the activities and challenges they have already completed include a bowling tournament, a 2,000-mile challenge, a golf tournament, and a baking competition. Our directors have even risked a pie in the face. This time around, we have three teams of staff that will be trying to find their way out of a local escape room on Friday 7th October. For every member of staff that successfully escapes, we pledge 100 new trees towards the 10,000-tree goal.
Our teams are as below:
Team 1
Team 1 will be thrown into the depths of a pirate-themed room. Here, they will try to solve puzzles and find a hidden amulet that can grant them the power to escape from the wrath of a bloodthirsty pirate. But will they escape, or will these scurvy dogs have to walk the plank?
The Team 1 crew includes:
- Luke Mattin – HSEQ and Compliance Manager
- George Draganov – HSEQ and Compliance Coordinator
- Christian Upjohn – HSEQ and Compliance Coordinator
- Will Baker – Administrator and HSEQ Assistant
- Martin Emms – Norwich Depot Operations Manager
With four of the five members of Team 1 involved in the company’s health and safety department, you would expect their escape to be orderly, sensible, and strategic. For that exact reason, we’ve also put our Operations Manager in Team 1. Martin has worked with the company for over 11 years, is always doing a million things at once, and we are quite sure shares part of his DNA with the Tasmanian devil. That should spice things up a bit!
Team 2
Team 2 will be venturing into the cursed tomb of an Egyptian Pharaoh in search of a missing professor. Will the missing professor’s clues lead them to uncover the truth behind his disappearance, or will our team find themselves trapped in the tomb forever more?
Our second team of adventurers include:
- Simon Franklin – Founder and Managing Director
- Kristian Carter – Commercial Director
- Abbie Harding – Customer Service Team Leader
- Alex Tubby – Internal Sales
Made up of two sets of work besties, this team has the power of friendship on their side! Three of the four members of this team are highly competitive (we aren’t saying who!) – but will they be able to work as a team to achieve a joint victory? We certainly expect them to escape, but we also think they’ll be determined to escape in the fastest time yet… Good luck, Team 2!
Team 3
Team 3 will be venturing into a haunted escape room on Norwich’s Tombland. The room is based on a ghost story about the very building it stands within. But will our third team be able to help the tormented ghost of a young girl pass peacefully to the other side? Or will they join her, their spirits locked forever in limbo?
Our team of ghost hunters includes:
- Oliver Grice – Operations Director
- Scott Taylor – Accounts Assistant
- Dawn Cordner – MI Reports Administrator
- Emily Bridges – Marketing Manager
This team is made up of four staff members from four different departments. In theory, this should mean they have a diverse range of skills and strengths they could bring to the team. But will they be able to pull together, escape, and get 400 more trees added to the 10,000 tree total? Only time will tell.

Update 24/10/2022: Team 2 Escaped, meaning another 400 trees towards our 10,000 Tree Challenge. These trees will be planted in Nicaragua.
