Introducing our new Norwich Operations Manager!
We are pleased to introduce our new Norwich Operations Manager, Martin Emms!
New to the role but very much a part of the Shred Station furniture having been at the company for over eleven years, Martin was the ideal candidate for this position.
Originally starting out in the company as a driver’s mate, Martin then moved to sales. He soon worked his way up to a sales management role, also taking care of some of our IT essentials and operations. Last year he moved to the operations team full time for a change of scenery. His people management skills and attention to detail impressed Shred Station’s Operations Director so much that promotion was the natural next step. The whole Norwich Operations team is now in Martin’s capable hands.
Operations Director, Oliver Grice, comments:
“Martin has a huge amount of experience across all areas of the business. In the year he’s been in our operations team he’s worked incredibly well and got the Norwich side of operations running really smoothly”.
“The business has grown enormously in the last year. With that growth we needed to assign someone to be responsible for the depot operations, managing the associated staff and growing the Norwich operations team. We’ve just taken on a fifth operations team member in Harlow and a third in Manchester, so it’s the right time to expand Norwich so it mirrors our other sites”.
“Martin was the ideal candidate for the job and has all of the assets the team needs. Martin is such a people person. He has a larger-than-life personality to say the least – you only have to ask around at Shred Station. I have great faith in him. He is someone I trust to lead the team and produce really good results for us. We look to promote internally wherever we can and progress people within the business in general. Martin was the perfect fit”.
Growing and extending the team means that our operations can run more efficiently. It also means as the Norwich fleet grows, we’ll have the infrastructure to cope with that growth. This will mean an even better, reliable shredding service for our customers across the country. We are also looking to employ an additional operations administrator for Norwich over the coming weeks.
We spoke with Martin about how he felt to have received the promotion.
“I’m very happy that I’ve been chosen for the role. I like being in the operations team and the time I’ve been working at Shred Station has helped me develop the skills needed for the operations manager role. My relationship with all the drivers and the drivers’ mates is good and I look forward to working with them more. I moved to operations from sales initially as I was excited to learn something new and have more of a direct impact on how that part of the business works. Going from managing the internal sales team, quite a small team, to now managing a team of over twenty people is a big challenge but one that I’m really excited to take on. I’ve already got a good company understanding and relationships with staff, so with a bit of vehicle training I think I’ll be settled.”
Congratulations once again to Martin on his new role.
