Mobile (on-site) and off-site shredding: what’s the difference?
We offer two options to dispose of your confidential waste: mobile (on-site) shredding and off-site shredding. Although both are completely secure, the process is slightly different in each case, so one service may suit you better than the other.
What happens with mobile (on-site) shredding?
We can provide our own bins and bags, or we can offer one-off collections of material that you have bagged, boxed or palletised.
On the day, one of our state-of-the-art mobile shredding vehicles will arrive at your premises and our staff will collect your confidential waste from you. Your waste will go directly on to our vehicle, where it will be instantly destroyed before your eyes.
All mobile shredding vehicles are satellite-tracked and have CCTV on board, and all our vehicle staff are security vetted under BS7858.
Once your shredding is complete, you’ll receive a certificate of destruction and waste transfer note, confirming the safe destruction of your data in compliance with UK and EU standards.
What happens with off-site shredding?
As with on-site shredding, we can provide our own bins and bags for you to use, or we can collect your bagged, boxed or palletised material.
When we carry out your collection, our uniformed and BS7858 security vetted operative will seal your confidential waste on to one of our state-of-the-art vehicles. All our vehicles have sealed bodies and CCTV, and are continuously tracked via GPS and a waste transfer note is provided.
On arrival at our secure, purpose-built facilities, your documents will be shredded. At this point, we’ll provide you with a certificate of destruction, confirming the safe destruction of your data in compliance with UK and EU standards.
What are the differences between on-site shredding and off-site shredding?
The key point is that both on-site and off-site shredding are completely secure. All our staff are suitably trained and security checked, our vehicles are fully secure and the shredding technology used is similar in both cases.
The main advantage of on-site shredding is that you can watch the shredding process first-hand, and your certificate of destruction is issued instantly. Some companies have their own standards and requirements under which they must witness destruction themselves, while some simply prefer the peace of mind of seeing the immediate destruction of their confidential waste.
The main advantage of off-site shredding is that it can be even more cost-effective, as there is no requirement for specially designed mobile truck to shred the documents then and there. From your own perspective, you also do not have the expense of paying staff to take time to observe the shredding.
